Working from home (the comfy edition)
Ah, COVID-19 you really have messed with not just our social life, but our work life too. Seeing as working from home is the new thing, I wanted to share some tips I live by to get me through each WFH day. And yes, it does involve pj’s, endless cups of tea and tv, you won’t want to go back to the office, trust me.
MAKE TIME FOR YOU IN THE MORNINGS
For me, there is nothing worse than getting straight out of bed and having to start work. I’m the same if i’m going anywhere, I will happily set my alarm an hour earlier than I need to just so I can chill after getting ready and have some ‘me’ time. Whether that’s going to the gym, going for a run or simply just sitting on your sofa and watching last night’s episode of This Country (guilty). Take some time for you before you start your day.
JOGGERS ONLY HERE
Putting on jeans to work from home? It's an absolute no from me. Joggers all the way. I would be lying if I said i'm not partial to working from the soft office (bed) every now and again. But, there is something about getting out of your pj's and into loungewear that still makes you feel like you're ready to start the day.
WRITE A ‘STRESS-FREE’ TO-DO LIST
It's easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of tasks you need to do throughout the day. Sometimes so much so you clean the bathroom instead of working? Yep, we've all been there. Write down an achievable list that you will be able to get through without stressing yourself out. Start small and anything extra is an added bonus. No stress and more work achieved. Double win.
TAKE REGULAR (TEA) BREAKS
Anyone who knows me knows i'm partial to a cup of tea (or 8). Tea breaks are the perfect excuse to step away from your desk and take 5 to recharge and clear your mind. Having a set lunch break, whether that is 30 mins or an hour is a great way to get some fresh air, or just close your laptop and not think about work for a minute. I’m a Yorkshire Tea kind of girl, how about you?
HOLLY & PHIL IN THE MORNINGS? ABSOLUTELY
I feel like this might be a marmite kind of statement... but having the tele on whilst i'm working is a yes from me. Whether it's a bit of Holly & Phil keeping me company in the morning or Lizzy’s (shotfromthestreet) Youtube videos in the afternoon, I find having something on in the background to listen (and half-watch) can really help with my productivity. When I sit in silence or listen to music, I don't get half as much done. Why? I have no idea, but it ends in me typing the lyrics and that is no use to anyone haha.
